Are you thinking of becoming a REALTOR?

Make a list of all the questions that you have, so you can ask the brokers as you interview them about copy costs, fees for MIBOR, office fees, marketing costs and ideas, etc.

Make sure that you don't just settle at the first company that you interview with.  Do your research.  Interview other agents with those companies.  Ask the broker how accessible they are.  In today's economy, you need a broker who will be able to be hands on while you start your real estate career.  A company with an absent broker is not a good place for you to land as a new agent.  You will have listing questions, marketing questions, technical questions, questions on how to best represent buyers, and the list goes on.

I read several books as I entered in the Real Estate Market, even though I have been on other sides of this business for 15 plus years prior to becoming a REALTOR®.

Jennifer Allan's Sell with Soul (book) is excellent.  http://www.sellwithsoul.com/

Active Rain is a wealth of knowledge for new and old agents alike.  www.activerain.com

Success as a Real Estate Agent for Dummies was pretty good. (Book)

NAR has a great website tool where you can check out e-books online with your NRDS ID.

21 Things I wish my Broker had told Me was good.  (book)

Read a lot of the articles on Active Rain about marketing, costs, etc. before committing to a career in Real Estate, and make sure you have a good savings so you can make it thru, as your first year can be very tough, especially in this market.
